About the University of Oklahoma

Founded in 1890 by the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature, the University of Oklahoma is a university that grants doctoral degrees and meets the cultural, economic, educational, and health needs of the state where the school is located, region, and the US.

University of Oklahoma Admissions

The University of Oklahoma uses a comprehensive admissions process to review first-year applications. This process takes into account several factors that predict academic success.

These factors include high school GPA, academic discipline, ACT/SAT scores, participation in academic and non-academic activities, writing skills, leadership skills, letters of recommendation, and more.

The review focuses on the student’s overall performance. This includes GPA, ACT/SAT scores, academic discipline, and class rankings.

For students applying from the fall of 2021 to the fall of 2025, the OU will introduce test-optional access to the processing of applications. The OU also evaluates ACT/SAT results and allows students to submit test scores for the purpose of scholarships and admissions.

These scores must be verified at the time of admission. In addition to academic performance, a student’s composition, writing skills, and general commitment are very important.

How to apply to UO

  • Apply Coalition with Scoir, or you can make use of OU Application or a Common Application to apply for admission as a freshman. This includes a $40 application fee, which will not be refunded to local applicants.
  • Make sure we have the supporting documents:
    • An official high school transcript indicating at least six semesters of work completed, including a GPA (on a scale of 4.0 unweighted) and your rank in class.
    • Self-reported test results or official test results sent to the school through ACT and/or The College Board. Test results can also be included in the official high school transcripts. Letter of recommendation

  • Once the Admissions Office has received your application and the supporting documents, your academic qualifications will be assessed and verified. The admission decision must be notified by regular mail in four to six weeks.

University of Oklahoma International Students Acceptance Rate and Application

The University of Oklahoma does not have a different acceptance rate for international students. the general acceptance rate covers domestic and international students.
